You will own the end to end delivery of cloud infrastructure solutions from design and deployment through to third line support and continuous improvement.
- Architect install and operate hardware and software technologies that host cloud services
- Deliver cloud services including IaaS disaster recovery backup networking security and associated platforms
- Design administer manage and provide third level support for virtualisation platform stacks and orchestration tools
- Support technologies including VMware Cloud Director vCenter vSphere Nutanix AHV HPE VME KVM based platforms or equivalent and Azure Hub where applicable
- Support Linux Windows SQL and other supporting technologies
- Manage SDN and virtual and physical networking including enterprise networking and firewall platforms
- Work with networking and security technologies such as Cisco Arista Juniper Fortinet and associated security devices
- Deliver root cause resolution for complex technical issues
- Provide professional consultancy on infrastructure technologies including cloud services onboarding
- Raise manage and escalate third party support cases with appropriate criticalities
- Proactively contribute ideas and suggestions for continuous service improvement
- Mentor and guide other team members in specialist areas of technology
- Create and maintain documentation for new systems services technologies and procedures
- Prioritise and manage your workload to meet stakeholder expectations across projects and business as usual activity
- Support preparation of proposals statements of work and supporting documents for prospects
- Present cloud services vision technologies and strategy to executives and technical stakeholders
- Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues partners customers and prospects
- Liaise with customers on design of virtual infrastructures networks migrations and backup and DR strategies
- Contribute to capacity planning performance analysis and lifecycle management to ensure scalable cost effective resilient services
- Work with the Security Architect to review assets identify weaknesses and maintain security controls across the cloud domain
- Support implementation of the security strategy through alignment with security technologies and tools
- Participate in an out of hours on call rota supporting cloud services
- Hold a satisfactory Basic Police Disclosure as required for the role
About You
You are an experienced infrastructure specialist who combines deep technical expertise with a calm customer focused approach and a drive to improve services.
- Expert knowledge of IT infrastructure including compute storage hardware platforms operating systems virtualisation and security devices
- Strong understanding of lifecycle performance and capacity management within enterprise or service provider environments
- Expert knowledge of backup replication and disaster recovery technologies such as Veeam Zerto or equivalent
- Professional level qualifications across multiple disciplines such as VCP MCSE CCNP or equivalent
- Previous experience in a senior systems administration or infrastructure engineering role
- Experience in a service provider or multi tenant environment is desirable but not essential
- Strong customer service background with the ability to build trusted relationships
- Confident communicator by phone in person and in writing
- Proven ability to achieve successful outcomes in difficult situations across varied stakeholders
- Strong understanding of security centric infrastructure design including identity services Active Directory certificate services and PKI vulnerability management and secure configuration practices
- Knowledge of ITIL ISO27001 and PCI DSS preferred
