An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Research Officer / Law Librarian to join a leading legal services firm. This varied role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for legal research and information management, offering the chance to directly support Advocates and Associates while developing and managing essential knowledge resources

The Role
A key position ensuring the smooth running of the library and supporting legal professionals with timely information and research services

  • Provide a legal and business information enquiry service using both printed and electronic resources

  • Deliver induction training for new staff and provide training to fee earners in legal research and online resources

  • Assist with legal tasks to support client matters and liaise with clients and third parties via email phone and meetings

  • Produce current awareness updates including monthly library newsletters Manx judgment summaries and quarterly corporate updates

  • Manage and develop the librarys information resources and library management system including Soutron

  • Oversee the library budget and negotiate with suppliers of information resources

  • Ensure collections remain relevant and up to date through active collection management and acquisition

The ideal candidate will combine strong legal research skills with excellent interpersonal and organisational ability

  • Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities to tight deadlines

  • Strong knowledge of legal information sources and confidence in delivering accurate research support
